The National Service Scheme is one of the best service programmes initiated by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Govt. of India for student community in Social Services under the guidance and leadership of social workers. The National Service Scheme was launched by the Govt. of India just after independence embraces variety of colorful activities meant for the student community in particular and for the upliftment of the society in general. As a result both the student community and the society as a whole are highly benefited. In September, 1969 during 4th Five year plan (1969-74), the National Service Scheme (NSS) was introduced in 117 colleges under only 11 colleges affiliated to Gauhati University accepted the scheme with enrolment of 550 student volunteers
St.Mary’s Group of Instituttions Guntur NSS Unit at a Glance:
The National Service Scheme was formally allowed to be introduced in the St.Mary’s Group of Instituttions Guntur by the Programme Co-ordinator NSS of JawaharLal Nehru Technological University Kakinada in the year2016.
Mr.Subhani Shaik was appointed as the Programme Officer of the St.Mary’s Group of Instituttions Guntur NSS Unit consisting of 50 students volunteers both boys and girls.
The NSS unit of St.Mary’s Group of Instituttions Guntur has been playing a vital role in case of personality development of students through participating in different activities. The NSS Unit has also been playing a major role in establishing a meaningful linkage between the college campus and the community. The NSS Unit of St.Mary’s Group of Institutions Guntur is composed of one NSS programme officer and more than hundred 150 student volunteers.
Along with regular activities, the NSS Unit of St.Mary’s Group of Institutions Guntur organizes various programmes including Special camps in a year. In these activities and programmes,the NSS student volunteers of the college actively participated in different activities and programmes organized by the NSS unit.
